POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Per-Diem
 
PURPOSE:
 
CHHUNY is in need of a qualified, per-diem Compliance & Privacy Officer who is responsible for ensuring CHHUNY is conducting business that is in full compliance with all laws and regulations related to its industry.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Chairperson of the Compliance Committee
  • Establish policies and procedures required in implementing a compliance program and maintain oversight
  • Communicates information for identified risk areas to operation areas that are impacted.
  • Coordinate training and educational programs related to compliance
  • Initiate investigations as required of any issues of noncompliance as well implementation of appropriate corrective action plans
  • Responsible for the compliance monitoring process including internal auditing of compliance among various departments and vendors/business associates
  • Work closely with services/staff to monitor compliance specific to HIPAA privacy and security, provide training, and resolve issues relating to the protection and security of Medicaid confidential data
  • Coordinate a monthly review of new employees and vendors to ensure they are not excluded from participating in federal health care programs
  • Maintain awareness of Healthcare compliance and HIPAA privacy and security laws and regulations, keeping apprised of current changes that may affect the compliance or privacy program
  • Responsible for submitting any required reporting to oversight agencies as it pertains to the organization’s compliance
  • Annual certification of compliance program under SSL and DRA
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Healthcare Compliance certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health care organization
  • Strong knowledge of mandatory healthcare compliance program requirements as detailed by the NYS Office of Medicaid Inspector General
  • Strong knowledge of contracts and business associate agreements and expectations from a compliance and privacy perspective
  • Understanding of NYS and Federal Medicaid rules and regulations
